Construction of our bamboo studio in Granada is underway…

When we first purchased this little piece of property, the roof was falling apart and the “garden” looked more like a garbage dump with concrete and trash all over the place. We have slowly over the months been cleaning it up and it is starting to take shape.

I have been working with a gardener and we now have a small vegetable garden, a compost heap, and a large variety of flowering plants, in addition to the palm tree, mango and almond trees that were already there. The garden is taking shape, with ground cover slowly covering the newly installed tierra rica from Volcano Mombacho, (good soil) and one can now envision how it might look in a few months.

We break ground this week on CO2 Bambu’s first urban renovation project. September 18th will be “World Bamboo Day” and we are co-ordinating PR activities with bamboo experts world wide. Our plan is for the studio to be complete by then so that we can do a Granada open house tour of our bamboo factory with the model house, and of the renovated studio in Granada.

Julio CO2 Bambu’s young, talented and charismatic civil engineer is leading the charge after his return from a very productive special workshop in Colombia focusing on Guadua Bamboo construction. So, the day before we leave for Colombia, Julio breaks ground with his crew.
His parting words: “Que se disfrute en Colombia — no te preocupes!” (Have fun in Colombia, don’t worry!)
