Temple of Literature ~ Hanoi, Viet Nam

A rate example of well preserved Vietnamese architecture, the Temple of Literature, founded in 1070 (yes, 1000 years ago!!), by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong who dedicated to Confucius in order to honor scholars and men of literary accomplishments.  The first university was established here in 1076 to educate the sons of Mandarins.
Chinese lacquered statues of Confucius and other erudite thinkers
How many thousands of Mandarins walked through these doors?
The temple dates back to 1010 (yes, no typo – over 1000 years old!)
